My mojo has gone and I am stuck in a rut...

Being stuck in a rut and losing your mojo is like being trapped in a wet paper bag spinning around in a cyclone of wind with no strength to breakthrough…


Oxford English Dictionary Definition

Having low or no mojo is so exhausting and can create limiting self-beliefs of worthlessness, disappointment and imposter syndrome…with little or no enthusiasm, clarity, direction or motivation to make the changes to get you out you end up staying in a rut that just gets bigger and bigger.


So how do you breakthrough that wet paper bag and get out of the cyclone?

I have personally done this for myself following 30+ years of limiting self- beliefs, negative thinking and suicidal thoughts which all started with one simple step and it is often the hardest one to take…acknowledgement…acknowledging that I am doing limiting self-beliefs, having negative thinking and suicidal thoughts…and that is OK.


Once I accepted that this is what I was doing, I then started to share my reality and my thoughts with those close to me. This led to me then sharing with others, and that started a community of individuals on similar paths. That was two years ago and following that first step I now have an amazing skillset and range of tools that I use to help others on similar journey.


My mojo is back and this time I know how to keep it and to keep any limiting beliefs in check and control. The beauty of how it is done is surprisingly quick and effective. You may say I am biased and that’s OK…I am a firm believer in what works for you…for me it was NLP and understanding how the unconscious mind works and using it to my advantage rather than it working against me.

These were things I used to believe and they were the exact things that were holding me back, keeping me in my rut.


What can you do…

The first thing you can do to help yourself is learn how to turn off that negative chatter running through your head – check out a previous blog with simple control techniques that you can implement quickly and effectively.


Also with a basic understanding upon how our unconscious mind makes sense of the world around us can be another great starting point.

The world outside us provides use with millions of bits a data a second and our brain can only handle approximate 7 +/- 2 consciously – therefore the rest is handled unconsciously (if you are not sure if you have an unconscious mind answer this 3 x 3...where was 9 before you had the answer in your conscious mind? Yes in your unconscious). The way the unconscious mind works it will take all that data in and immediately does one of three things…delete, distort or generalise the information.


Most of it is deleted – for example as you read this blog you are unaware of how your clothes feel on your skin…well you do now as I made you consciously aware of it, before then it was being deleted by the unconscious as it wasn't relevant or important.


Data can also distorted and generalised which is done based upon our learnt filters that you have been formed by your values, beliefs, memories, decisions and your personal operating system (meta programmes).


The data then forms your internal representation, which gives you a feeling, the feeling changes your physiology which creates your behaviours and ultimately your results.

By knowing how the unconscious mind works we can look at the internal representations which can be edited/altered so it changes the state, physiology, behaviour and ultimately your results.


These techniques are really simple to learn, use, implement and is a staple element of any Therapeutic NLP Coaching – taking control of these internal representations is really easy master.
